(Hey Poptropicans!Ā This is a guest post about a new update, and it’s written by Silver Wolf, a Poptropican who also blogs over atĀ Poptropica Tips for PoptropicansĀ (PTFP). Enjoy!)

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, with more updates on the #PoptropicaArt contest finalists!

If you’ve been keeping up with news recently, then you would know that the Creators announcedĀ an extra round of finalists – and now they’ve announced another round coming up, because there were so many great entries!Ā Next time there will be 10 from Twitter, and today’s round isĀ from Facebook.

If you haven’t seen all of the finalists, make sure to visit round 1, round 2, round 3, and round 4.

If you haven’t seen all of the finalists, make sure to visit round 1, round 2, round 3, and round 4.

Congrats to Creepy Goose, thiswarriorisagirl, Theo, Ilkyoung K., and Maryann P. for all making it to the finals!Ā I really like the colors Creepy Goose and Maryann P. used, and the mood of thiswarriorisagirl’s is perfect, but I also love how imaginative Theo’s is and Ilkyoung’s great drawings of Poptropica characters.

What do you think? With how awesome these are, I can’t wait to see the next batch from Twitter!

Thanks again to Silver Wolf for herĀ guest posting appearance on the PHB!

In other Poptropica news, Mitch Krpata, author of Poptropica: The Lost Expedition, was at Blue Bunny Books in Dedham, MA this Saturday, and here is a tweet from the bookstore with some pictures!

Looks like it was a fun event! Stay popping, Poptropicans!

Hello, everyone!

Lucky Joker here, to announce the last group of finalists of the #PoptropicaArt contest!

As announced on the Creators’ Blog, Poptropica has decided to choose yet another group of finalists because of how many great entries there were! They also stated that they were going to be deviating from their original plan by crowning more than three champions. I couldn’t agree with their decisions more, as so many pieces are deserving!

These 10 entries were selectedĀ from Twitter. If you haven’t seen the others, go and check out the finalists of round 1, round 2, round 3, round 4 and round 5!

This last group of finalists includes the works of Colette L., Crafty Poptropican, dictator crossing, DSFli Jean, Massive Bird, Shaky Skunk, Written Ghost and the PHB’s very own Brave Tomato (with two entries) and Slanted Fish! Here they are:

by Colette L. by Crafty Poptropican by DSFLi Jean by Written Ghost by Brave Tomato by Slanted Fish by Brave Tomato by dictator crossing by Massive Bird by Shaky Skunk

Like the Poptropica Creators said – so many great entries, right?! Congratulations to all of the #PoptropicaArt contest finalists, you all did an amazing job! Also a big high-five to all of the participants for trying. There were so many entries to choose from, soĀ don’t feel bad if yours didn’t make it.

Stay tuned to the PHB and Creators’ BlogĀ for the announcing of the winners!

–

In other news, Mitch Krpata, author of Poptropica: The Lost Expedition, will be attending this year’s Annual Festival of Children’s Books and Authors in Rhode Island – where he will be giving a presentation pertaining to his work and life. He will also beĀ doing a book signing!

For those of you who are interested, get more details here! See you next time!

Fall Fashionables, Member Merits, and PHC Emojis!

Hey Poptropicans, you’re looking good! Ready to look even better?

The Poptropica Store has just been stockedĀ with some all-new autumn attire! If you find yourself falling for these Fall Fashion fittings, cleverly named from 1 to 4, head over to the Store to pick up your new wardrobe pieces. They’re free for members, or 275 credits apiece for non-members.

poptropica-fall-fashion-2016

You might feel like trying on that pink ombre hair or those geometric headphones. Something in here might even inspire a costume for Halloween – and that’s coming up! These looks will also soon be on the app.

If you’re needing more credits, the easiest way to accumulate some is by spinning the prize wheel on Home Island every day! In fact, the prize wheel guy even has something new to say, in celebration of Poptropica’s 9th birthday this month. (Thanks to Friendly Foot for the tip!)

catonhead

Another way to earn credits (anywhere from 100 to 500) is by finishing islands – even for replaying islands!

On the Creators’ Blog, Skinny Moon couldn’t help but throw in a promotion for membership – but a couple ofĀ lines did hint at something worth bringing up (bolded for emphasis below):

Of course, membership has its benefits. Everything in the store is included with membership. And sometimes our especially cool items are for members only… hmmmm, I wonder if that may happen in Octoberā€¦šŸ˜‰

Well, looks like members are soon toĀ get something for their money after months of nothing new, member-benefit-wise. (Now, before you let out a cry of outrage about howĀ not everyone wants to or is able to payĀ for membership, remember that Poptropica does need the business it gets from membership as part of what keeps the companyĀ running. For all that Poptropica offers for free, it’s not outrageously unfair for them to offer a little extra to their patrons!)

Anyway, with apologies to Dr. Seuss, want to know what’s cooler than a cat in a hat?

Over on the Poptropica Help Chat (PHC), we’ve recently added almost fifty new custom Poptropica emojis that you can use in your conversations! Here is just a taste of some of that awesomeness:

popemojis

A full list of our new emojis can be found in the PHC’s #tutorial channel.

In case you’re not familiar with the PHCĀ on Discord, it’s a great place to meet, hang out with, and start parties with other Poptropicans, including PHB staff and other faces in this fun community! Check it out!

Have a great weekend, Poptropicans! 😁

My Place In Poptropica: Brave Hero

This is theĀ MyĀ Place in Poptropica story of Brave Hero, who first found Poptropica through the app earlier this year butĀ loves playing online too. See belowĀ for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip bh

Hi everyone! It’s me, Brave Hero. Since a lot of people have been sharing their stories, I’ve decided to send in my own. I haven’t played Poptropica for a really long time like others have, but I still would love to share my story with you. I don’t know about you, but I think it’s actually quite interesting.

My username is smartcute5, for those who areĀ wondering. So, without further ado, let’s get started on my story…

February 2016 | Discovering the Poptropica App

It was an average Tuesday at school. I was at art class, just drawing some random stuff.Ā  While I was drawing, I overheard one of my friends say something about ā€œPoptropicaā€ and something about ā€œcredits.ā€ ā€œWhat is Poptropica, an app or something?ā€ I wondered. I was filled to the brim with curiosity, so after school, I grabbed my tablet, searched up ā€œPoptropica,ā€ and found the Poptropica app.

After downloading it, I opened it, and then I saw little people running across the screen. I clicked on ā€œNew Player,ā€ and created my character. Her name was Silly Sun, and she looked just like me, except the clothing choice. After creating her, I started a tutorial, whereĀ I had to collect some missing shards to make my first medallion.

When the tutorial was finished, I started playing some of the islands. I immediately fell in love with that game, but then realized that some of the islands were hard. I needed help, so I used video guides (mostly Thinknoodles) to help me complete the islands. I thought this phase would never end until…

March 2016 |Ā Hiatus

I’m not sure why, but Poptropica just got away from me by the following month, in March.Ā  Maybe because some parts of certain islands seemedĀ impossible to complete, or Poptropica just got more boring to meĀ as time progressed. Also, since I had school, I really hadĀ little free time.

I thought I was going to be off forever, but soon, something made me want to go back on…

April 2016 | The PHB &Ā Brave Hero’s Beginning

I was just going on my computer, when I suddenly remembered Poptropica. I searched it up and found the website for it. But before I clicked the link, something else caught my eye, something called ā€œThe Poptropica Help Blog.ā€ I went on the blog, and found out that the blog was like a Poptropica guide and fun place. It broughtĀ back so much nostalgiaĀ from my previous Poptropica-playing.

After scrolling around the blog, I went on Poptropica, and created anĀ account online. After selecting my age and gender, a little person busted out of a box. Finding the perfectĀ name was quite hardĀ and took aĀ long time of clicking, but I finally found one: Brave Hero! Then, I landed on Home Island, and I completed my very first island, Monkey Wrench Island, which gave meĀ my first medallion.

May 2016 | Finding Fashion!

Nothing really happened inĀ May, except for me just completing islands and getting new costumes and all of that stuff. I was looking for some way for my Poptropican to look nicer, instead of wearing a classic pink shirt and skirt and a bare smile.

That’s when I found out that the PHB had two posts, one with loads of cute outfits, and another with a mountain of ASGs with awesome and rare costumes. It was perfect! Now, my Poptropican usually wears a pink one-shoulder shirt and belt, a white skirt, coral sunglasses, and a pink cape (to empathize my name, Brave Hero).

June 2016 – present |Ā PHC and Beyond

I was just scrolling around the blog when I came across the PHC, which is the PHB’s chat hangout area on Discord. I created an account and started to chat with others. At first, I wasn’t thatĀ active on it, but over time, I metĀ other Poptropicans and became friends with them. Now, I’m basically always online.

Right now, I’m very thankful for joining the community. I have been onĀ Poptropica a lot, and as of now I’ve completed somewhere around 24 islands. My favorite island is Super Power Island, mostly because of my name, Brave Hero. I’m also excited about the New Poptropica, but also sad because it de-emphasizes the Old Pop.Ā  I’m mostly hyped about the shoes, which I find weird.

And that’s My Place In Poptropica! If you want to friend me, my username is smartcute5. Bye for now!

–

Hope you enjoyed this ā€œMy Place in Poptropicaā€ story! Feel free to send in your ownĀ (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). Look out for more community MPIPs in the future!

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the top one of the list, here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning ā€œYou being added to the list,ā€ then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

Of Gods and Monsters – October’s Islands of the Month

$

0

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato, and welcome to the ever so spooky month of October!

2spoopy4me

Well, in Poptropica nowadays, a new month mean a new duo of Islands of the Month, where people have the opportunity to play an island for extra credits – no matter if it’s your first time playing it or you’re playing it again.

Since it is a new month, that means Mystery of the Map and Virus Hunter Island will no longer be giving extra credits upon completion.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s see which islands the Creators handpicked to be October’sĀ Islands of the Month!

Monster Carnival

Not too surprisingly, Monster Carnival is the first of the two Islands of the Month this month. After all, Halloween is slowly approaching and a spooky island like such would fit right in to this month.

Captain Crawfish has even uploaded a new video walkthrough for the island:

If you’d prefer a written walkthrough, check out the PHB’sĀ MonsterĀ Carnival Island Guide here!

Mythology Island

The second island, which may seem like a stranger pick at first, is Mythology Island. It seems like the Creators specifically are picking sound-updated islands (SUIs) to be islands of the month, andĀ out of the remaining SUIs, Mythology is one of the few that also has a classical creepy vibe to it (especially in the Underworld).

Captain Crawfish has made a new video walkthrough for Mythology as well:

If you’d prefer a written walkthrough, check out the PHB’s Mythology IslandĀ Guide here!

___

Like with the previous IotMs, the first time you complete either of theseĀ Islands of the Month, you will attain 500 credits, and for one more timeĀ following that, you will attain 300 credits. Still beats the regular 150 credits from non-IotM islands!

So with thisĀ news in mind and guides inĀ hand, go ahead and face off, whether it’d be a carnival full of monsters or the dangerous world of Greek Mythology!

Until next time, BT out!

In other news, the month of Halloween OctoberĀ is now in full swing, so Poptropica’s begun to celebrate! The Halloween photo booth is back, along with another Photo Booth contest starting next week. Skinny Moon has also gotten into the spoopy spooky spirit, and she’s not the only one – have you seen our Poptropicans lately?Ā šŸ˜‰

Welcome back Halloween Photo Booth! She's going to have to lay off the garlic.

In other spooky news, there appear to be some strange glitches on Home Island affecting hair color and fashion choices.Ā No, ohĀ wait – apparently DJ Saturday Nite and New You lady went to the hair salon together, and even Amelia’s appearanceĀ is deliberate. My bad.

Looks like DJ Saturday Nite found the hair bleach. Well, that certainly is a "New You". Amelia's aesthetic is apparently mixing period clothing.

In addition to the aesthetic changes, some characters, specifically Amelia Earhart and the wheel-spinny-guy-dude, also haveĀ some new dialogue! Seems the creators favor the term ā€œlootā€ over ā€œprizesā€ now, and Amelia’s plugging the new Fall Fashion lineup. (Thanks to Happy Lobster for the images!)

unknown-1 unknown unknown-2

Finally, the spooky Halloween-themed items of the Poptropica Store have been moved to the front of the card lineups for easy access! Check ’em out and deck out!

Whoof, this was a long update. Thanks for sticking with me!

Creator Pop-In: Skinny Moon Meme Edition

Hey Poptropicans, what’s popping?

Earlier tonight, some strange shenanigans went down on Twitter and the PHC Discord: Skinny Moon memes! It got the attention of theĀ Poptropica Creator herself – and so, curious about the pics,Ā Skinny Moon popped on the PHCĀ at about 9:40pm Eastern and stayed for a quick chat.

BecauseĀ these kinds of things don’t happen too often (although you can catch up on a few of these Creator sessions by scrollingĀ here), we’ve recorded a lot of her messagesĀ here for your benefit. What can we say? She’s a Poptropica celebrity and we need to obsessively documentĀ the good stuff.

By the way, here are some more of those lovely memes. You can thank idk, Yujo, and kenny for the oddballĀ amusement:

jessica psychoskinny2 chubby_sun jessica_front-facing_emoji fine unknown-3

And now for the exclusive (and somewhat esoteric) chat sesh:

idk (not your lime):Ā Did the lime get delivered safely?
Skinny Moon: OMG I DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT AHHHHHHH

Friendly Foot: Hello?? What’s going on with all the color changes on Home Island?
Skinny Moon: We are just mixing things up a little on the Home Island. Just for fun!

not your lime: Can you join our lime kingdom?
Skinny Moon: I’m dying laughing and I’m so confused.

kenny: (attachesĀ meme)

unknown-3

Skinny Moon: That Spongebob dude totally swiped my turtleneck.

Short Feather (TANGERINES): is the phb the only poptropica blog you read?
Skinny Moon: I’ll read any Poptropica fan blog if you tweet me your posts!

SpoopyĀ Skunk: Do you like birds?
Skinny Moon: Sure

Yujo:Ā Is this just a bird-specific set of questions now?
Skinny Moon: I’m partial to Labrador Retrievers, tbh.

not your lime:Ā What happened to that New Poptropica sneak peek you were talking about?
Skinny Moon: It’ll happen, we just have a ton to talk about first on the blog. I have had to post twice today! Sneak peek sometime this month. It’s a small thing, not like the house poll.

Tall Cactus (Happy Bday To Meh): hey.Ā It’s my bday
Skinny Moon: YAY!!! Happy birthday!Ā My b-day is next week! #GoLibras

MissEligon:Ā If you had to choose of all four villains: Dr. Hare, Black Widow, Captain Crawfish, and Binary Bard Who would be your favorite?
Skinny Moon: You really want me to choose???

TANGERINES:Ā are you aware of some of our craziness and cheese and clam obsessions?
Skinny Moon: I am not aware and am slightly scared. lol

Friendly Foot: What do you think of limes?
Skinny Moon: Limes are awesome

Tall Cactus:Ā how often will you come on Discord?
Skinny Moon: well I got lured in by IDK and crazy lime talk tonight

not your lime:Ā So, have you ever heard of the Poptropica developer ā€œGabriel Jensenā€? His account got deleted after it was hacked. :frowning:
Skinny Moon:Ā Sounds familiar, but before my time

felisha: when will new pop be out
Skinny Moon: I can’t give that info out, sorry! Sometime this year!

Yujo:Ā Will the Adventurer’s Saloon, as well as the rest of Sky Dock, be incorporated into Poptropica at some point?
Skinny Moon: If that’s stuff taken from our files I have no comment.

In response to several comments from Poptropicans worrying about the upcoming New Poptropica update, Skinny Moon also had this to say:

Don’t worry,Ā there’s something coming to the store for members that Poptropicans have been asking for and only members will get, so you’ll be happy! Don’t be apprehensive about New Poptropica. It’s going to be awesome and will stay true to the spirit of Poptropica! Old Pop won’t just go away.

Eventually, after popping in for about fifteen minutes, she wrapped up with a final message:

Okay all you crazy kids. I’m tired. Gotta go. Have to work tomorrow so we can keep bringing you cool stuff on Poptropica! Bye! So fun seeing you all!

But to quote Yujo, a PHC regular: ā€œShe’ll be back at one point. The moon always orbits back around.ā€

Why limes? Only Ylimegirl knows. Speaking of which, be sure to check out her post about the #PoptropicaArt contest winners and Halloween on Poptropica!Ā :ylimepoker~1:

See kids, this is the kind of fun you can have when you join us on the PHC. It’s a fun chat hangout for all Poptropicans, and you’ll get to interact with lots of awesome people in this community, including the occasional Creator! Join us on the PHC Discord!

With apologies to your eyeballs, perhaps it’s fitting that we conclude with one last Skinny Moon meme (thanks for the gif, DJ-Rosietta and Yujo!):

If that doesn’t convince you to join the PHC, we don’t know what will.

My Place in Poptropica: Dangerous Eye

$

This is theĀ MyĀ Place in Poptropica story ofĀ Dangerous Eye, who first started playing what she called ā€œPoppilliarā€ at school and now loves the community. See belowĀ for details on sending in your MPIP!

mpip de

Hey guys, I’m Dangerous Eye, and welcome to my lovely lovely ā€œMyĀ Place in Poptropicaā€. Enjoi :3!

2010 | Poppilliar

I was a young lass in 1st grade, and it was second semester. I was a very smart girl in school so I attended some 2nd grade classes as well. :3 I met my best friends David and Dezirae there, and we all played this one game we loved called Poptropica, but I had trouble pronouncing things and called it Poppilliar – dumb, right?

Anyway, we joinedĀ right when Skullduggery Island was added, and back then a lot of kids started a rumor thatĀ after they beat the game, a second, more difficult version of Poptropica would open up. I believed themĀ at the time.Ā I alsoĀ didn’t know you could save your account, until this 4th grader named Kennedy told me and my friends. She also told me that it was called Poptropica, not Poppilliar.

Over the summer, I stopped playing Poptropica for a while, and only started again whenĀ I went back to school for the first half of second grade.Ā I remember I had no clue what the PHB was, but every now and then I’d go to Poptropica SecretsĀ for walkthroughs and watch Thinknoodles videos, back when it was the Insiders Network.

2011 | Poptropica at the Academy

So I wasn’t the angel of the school, and I got kicked out. In my second semester of second grade, I went to another prestigious private school, but little did I know I’d love this school. It was like a fictional paradise in the real world, with aĀ really interestingĀ aspect:Ā every kid there loved the game Poptropica, and I loved it! I loved playing with my friends with Poptropica, and I started to loveĀ Poptropica for the story of the islands, the difficulty of the islands varying and the villains.

By this time, Poptropica had became my life and my favorite island was Red Dragon. I would always help everyone at my school with Poptropica, because everyone called meĀ The Poptropica Pro – okay,Ā nobody called me that, but I dreamed they did… anyway,Ā I was one of the best players at my school.

The day Red Dragon Island came out,Ā I refused to watch a walkthrough. Everyone had watched Thinknoodles’ video, butĀ I wanted to do it myself. I strived for at least a month to complete the island of Red Dragon, and it was one day when I was about to give up that I finally beat the island. It’sĀ one of my bestĀ Poptropica moments. Honestly, I loved 2011, because I was on top of the game, but little did I know what would happen next…

2012 – 2014 | Mega Poptropica Hiatus

Starting from third grade,Ā I took a long break from Poptropica. Also, my account got hacked.😦 This account had every island completed until Shrink Ray and I just didn’t want to restart. I had no motivation to redo every island including the (in my book) infamous Red Dragon, which had became my favorite island.

Because of that, I just quit Poptropica and forgot about it. I thought this would be my last time playing Poptropica butĀ I sure was wrong…

Late 2015 | What Has Happened?

I came back to Poptropica expecting the well-plotted game I knew and loved. AtĀ this time, I was a hardcore gamer in the seventhĀ grade. I loved video games and decided to give Poptropica another try because my newest friends Devin and Donna loved the game.

I really couldn’t believe what had happened to the game, and the changesĀ sickened me. I missed the old Poptropica, but even though I hated Poptropica now, I found the amazing community, and thatĀ helped me. Thanks to that, I found out about all the amazing things happening with Poptropica.

I also fell in love with the Poptropica YouTuberĀ Perfect SkyĀ (if you are reading this, PS, can Perfect Sky x Dangerous Eye be canon? :3 ) I also found the PHB, which I would check every now and then.

2016 | Year of Pop

This is the best year for Poptropica by far. I am following Orb Legend, PoptropicaPerfectSky, and so many blogs. I joined a blog as well, and I became known as Kaliscene or Yandari~Sama on Discord, where the PHC is. I love being part of this community, and I absolutely love the PHB. So many good things have come from it.

I’m thankful for Poptropica making me the social person I am today, even if it’s just on the Internet. The best part of Poptropica for me now is the PHB. So many of the bloggers have inspired me, especially in that one vlog in the PHB’s April Fool’s Day jokeĀ where Brave Tomato played the piano… that’s how I got started in piano!

Poptropica surely has evolved – not always in theĀ best way possible, I think – but I can always play the islands I love and remember the old Poptropica I loved and played. My favorite island will always be Red Dragon but theĀ runner-up for me is PoptropiCon because I love superheroes.

So, all I have to say is thank you for reading my MPIP, and thank you all for making me the Dangerous Eye you know today!

PHB Pop-over Special: Stranger Things

ā€œFriends don’t lie.ā€ This is no lie – we’ve got new costumes for you!

Crossing over between Poptropica andĀ another franchise is back and under a poppin’ new name: Pop-over! (That’s ā€˜Poptropica’ and ā€˜crossover’, by the way.) You can check out past Pop-overs we’ve done here on the PHB in the new Pop-over category here.

And for this post’s Pop-over – as you can tell – we’re crossing over to the world of Stranger Things! Perhaps you’ve heard of it – Stranger Things is a Netflix-original drama (encompassingĀ supernatural, science fiction, horror, mystery) that was released this summer and has sinceĀ receivedĀ wide acclaim.

Those of you who are fans of the show might enjoy this collection of costumes from the PHB – and the best part is, most of these parts are customizable! All you need to do is add the usernames shown in the picture above (or listedĀ below) and use the Costumizer in your friends panel.

(If you didn’t already know, we have tools like iPop and MAP on our Glitching page that make it easy to customize your character – plus ourĀ ASG page is full of rare costumes!)

Stranger Things is currently out with just one season (8 episodes), so you can catch up in one weekend if you’re curious about this suspensefulĀ story set in the ’80s!

It’s become aĀ favorite among some of us on the PHB team, andĀ we’re excited to share it with you. (Just keep in mind, there are some elements thatĀ may notĀ be suitable for everyone – such as flashing lights, guns, andĀ profanity. Generally speaking, it may not be your thingĀ if you’re epileptic or under 13, but use your discretion. That being said, the storyline and setting is excellent, so check it out if it interests you!)

Hope you enjoyed this Stranger Things/Poptropica crossover! Let us know what you think of the show in the comments below, and as always, stay popping, Poptropicans! šŸ˜šŸ‘»

PHB’s 8th Annual Autumnal-Halloween Contest!

8thhallo-phb

Boo, Poptropicans! Fall is here, and that means Halloween is not far behind!

Even if you don’t live in a region thatĀ experiences aĀ season of leaves changing color, pumpkin pie, and jack-o-lanterns (or if it’s spring where you are), the only thing you’ve got to fear are the Halloween costumes of your fellow Poptropicans – because here on the PHB, for the 8th year in a row, we’re continuing our tradition ofĀ throwing a costume contest in October!

This year, in addition to the Halloween theme, we’re adding another theme: the season of fall itself! You can choose to participate in both (or one, or neither, as you wish).

Traditionally,Ā Poptropicans submit their best Poptropica Halloween (and now, also autumn/fall) costumes in the comments section byĀ giving an Avatar Studio linkĀ and/or posting their username. Keep in mind the following tips:

  • Be original!Ā Mix and match to create your own unique costume(s).
  • There are someĀ great Halloween costume partsĀ at the ghoul gathering from the end of theĀ Haunted HouseĀ quest from the Store, as well as the collection ofĀ free costumesĀ in the Store, but be creative and search in other places too! As for autumn, look for the colors of fall, like red, orange, yellow, and brown.
  • Keep your costume intactĀ until after the winners are announced, or we may not see it!Ā If you don’t want to keep the costume on your main account, create a new one and post that instead.
  • To post your entry,Ā go to theĀ Avatar Studio, type in your username, clickĀ Load, click on theĀ LinkĀ to highlight it, right-click and choose Copy, go to the comments section onĀ this post, right-click and choose Paste, type in your comment and submit so we can view your costume by clicking the link! Name your costume and post the username if you want.

WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO:Ā On Halloween (October 31st), we’ll make a post featuring the winning costumes, plus they will also be immortalized on the PHB’sĀ Costumes page, where you can alsoĀ see examples of past winners. We’ll haveĀ 10 winnersĀ for the costume portion – 5 fall fashions, and 5 Halloween hauntings. ButĀ wait, there’s more…

Stolen Snapshots is returning for another round called Spooktober, courtesy of Slippery Raptor! Can you guess which islands these spooooky negativesĀ were taken from?

Hey everyone! Spotted Dragon here again (I know, it’s like once in a blue moon these days) and it’s October, so you know what that means…

spoopy

Well, yes it does mean it’s time to binge watch Over the Garden Wall, but that’s not the point of this post. The point is that it’s a new month and that means a new Island of the Month! And that island is…

monster-carnival-poster

Monster Carnival! And for this spoopy time of year, I’d say Monster Carnival is a perfect choice. Remember that since this island is currently featured, it gets special advantages!šŸ˜€

  • First-time finishers get 500 credits instead of the usual 300
  • Repeat finishers get a one-time 300 credit bonus instead of the usual 150
  • There’s a brand-new walkthroughĀ (by the Creators) for Monster Carnival to help you ifĀ need be
  • Some cool IOTM lost art and/or throwbacks will be postedĀ throughout the month on the Creators’ Blog and social media
  • The IOTM’s exclusive members-only items are back in the Poptropica Store for a limited time (includingĀ the Ringmaster costume which was previously only available during early access)

Of course, we did already figure out the Islands of the Month – the other is Mythology Island – the Creators just finally got around to blogging about it (and mentioning the upcoming lost art!).

If you are interested in any of these, head over to Monster Carnival Island right away! I’m very excited to see all this ā€œlost art,ā€Ā aren’t you? Ā However, that’s not all that’s special about this month…

It’s also Skinny Moon’s birthday today! Yep, October 13th to be exact, so be sure to wish her a happy birthday. From all of us here on the PHB, happy birthday, Jessica! We all love and appreciate you very much, so weĀ hope you had an amazing day.šŸ˜‰

I’ve also been told to share this video with the lucky birthday girl… (very funny ylime)šŸ˜›

Other than these cool celebrations, remember that Poptropica is celebrating Halloween in other cool ways. Plus, be sure to enter in the PHB’s very own Halloween/Fall Costume Contest!

It’s our 8th annual this year, and it’s very special this time around because… the Poptropica Creators are sponsoring us by giving a one-month membership to each of the 10 winners (in addition to the prize of being featured on the PHB)!

Now you have to enter, right? Just do it!

Anyway, stay spoopy Poptropicans! >:)

My Place in Poptropica: White Ice

This is theĀ MyĀ Place in Poptropica story of White Ice, a Poptropican who played on-and-off with another game, Fantage, but ultimately chooses Poptropica.Ā See belowĀ for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip wi

Hey guys! I’m White Ice, and my username is maryamkamal2197. I’m fairly new to the Poptropica community, and to blogging as well. Just to clarify, I’m not the White Ice that runs a Poptropica fashion blog, though I used to run the People of Poptropica blog along with Lucky Joker, and you can find me on Instagram at thebookwolves. Here’s my Poptropica story!

2009 | The Beginning

I didn’t discover Poptropica through Funbrain, unlike many people. I actually discovered Funbrain later, through Poptropica!

During 2009, I was living in the Philippines for a short while, and during one of my mom’s classes (I used to come with her to them), there was a girl who came with her parents, and she introduced me to Poptropica. Back then, I was only about age 5 or so, so I don’t remember much about what Poptropica was likeĀ back then. But after she introduced me to it, I was hooked.

I didn’t know what walkthroughs were, so sometimes I would get stuck on an island for months. I don’t remember if White Ice was the account that was my first, but I do remember that it’s at least 4 years old. I regret makingĀ my usernameĀ what it is, because it is kind of personal, but I was young, and didn’t know any better.šŸ˜›

2010-2012 | Another Game

I soon discovered another online game calledĀ Fantage, which caused me to play Poptropica a lot less. My cousin introduced me to it to me midway throughĀ 2010. Fantage is a rubbish game now, but back then, it was quite addicting forĀ a kid. To me at the time, Fantage was much better than Poptropica, because you could chat with other players, and in Poptropica you couldn’t.

I would still check on my Poptropica account occasionally, but it wasn’t until my Fantage account was hacked during 2012 that I was fully pushed back to Poptropica.

2012-2013 | Active yet again

These two years were probably the most active years I had on Poptropica, but I don’t get how I never discovered the Poptropica community! During this time, I was obsessed with completing islands. I discovered walkthroughs, butĀ because some written walkthroughs missed details sometimes, I also used Thinknoodles’ walkthroughs. IĀ completed all of the islands that were out back then. I never got membership, because my mom thought spending money on games was a waste.

I didn’t have a chance to introduce my friends to Poptropica, because most of them were Chinese and they weren’t really interested in playing English games. (I live in Hong Kong, and yes, it’s the same city Slanted Fish is from!Ā By the way, Hong Kong is inĀ China, butĀ is considered a special administrative region.) Anyway, some of my friendsĀ actually knew Poptropica, because some younger kids would play it in the computer room during recess, but they themselves didn’t play it.

2014-2015 | Growing old

And then life got in the way…

During 2014 and 2015, I started to play Poptropica less and less, because at that time, I got an Instagram account, I became a Potterhead (Harry Potter fan), and I started to read more mature books than the Wimpy Kid and Geronimo StiltonĀ I had been reading before. This led to meĀ becoming a fangirl and joining Instagram fandoms. I even started playing Fantage again, because my cousin managed to get my account back. So basically I just grew up a little. And when I got my first phone, I didn’t touch Poptropica at all.

2015 – present | In Full Swing

It’s funny how many breaks there are in my Poptropica story. I guess that’s because I’m a strange kid who has strange tastes.

During the latter half of 2015, I checked on my Poptropica account sometimes, and completed the newer SUI islands that came out during my 2014-2015 inactiveness. My return to Poptropica was probably due to finally quitting fantage, and to ignore the sadness I felt for splitting ways with my primary school friends. I discovered the PHB, and checked on it pretty often, but I never commented, and I didn’t explore enough to find theĀ PHC yet.

On the 15th of June, 2016, I finally got my chance to get more involved. I was bored and decided to check out the PHB, when I saw the post announcing the Summer Kickoff Party. I thought, Hey, it would be pretty cool to finally actually talk to other Poptropicans!

At 12am on 21st June, I set multiple alarms for 6am on my phone, and put it right beside my head. And guess what? I didn’t wake up. In fact, I was about an hour late, and the party was already in full swing.

The summer kickoff party was an amazing first Poptropica community experience for me. That day, I met Lucky Joker, Red Thunder, and Zany Panda, who, including me, were the last people who stayed on after the party ended. Lucky Joker then had the idea to start a blog together. Thus, the People of Poptropica blog was born. (Unfortunately, it was hacked a couple of months ago, but has since been revived.)

I just joined the Poptropica community not too long ago, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. Well, maybe I will, if the New Pop is disappointing. But probably not. I love Discord (where the PHC is) and blogging too much.šŸ˜€ It’s become my daily routine already. Get up, turn on my laptop and go on Discord. If I’m ever famous, it’ll probably be because I’m on Discord way too much! :’D

I have no idea how to close this up, but thanks, fellow poptropicans and POP bloggers. And thank you, for reading my Poptropican story.

New Poptropica – Monster Worm!

$

Hi Gs,

Finally, some new content! Earlier today, Skinny Moon gave us an inside peek into the New Poptropica that we’ve been promised — the development of a ā€œmonster wormā€ creature that will apparently appear in an upcoming island.

sneak2bpeek2bnew2bpoptropica2bfb

The bulk of the post, which you can read here, was written by Jon Pitcher, a veteran artist for Poptropica. He gives a step by step development process for creating the creature. This includes a developmental sketch, vector illustration, coloring, and animating. The process is impressive, as is the final product. Here’s a summary look at the process:

monsterwormprocess

Some notes:

  • Jon reveals that this creature has an earthy, dirt-covered home. What this could mean? Am I the only one to think of Crisis Caverns?
  • The art style is definitely different from regular Poptropica. It startles me that this is just a worm, considering the level of detail that went into it.
  • The FPS of the animation seems dramatically increased. Will this be a constant in New Poptropica?
  • The vector illustration is made with Adobe Illustrator – perhaps the rest of Poptropica’s graphics use this toolĀ as well?
  • One of theĀ programs he’s using is called ā€œSpineā€, a 2D skeletal animations tool. What does this mean for the Unity theory?

Equally intriguing is what seems to be verification that New Poptropica is still on track to be released later this year (how much later remains a mystery).Ā See you next time, Poptropicans.

Popspiracy: Munch on the New 24 Carrot!

(Hey Poptropicans! This Popspiracy theory about a remade 24 Carrot Island is a guest post by Shaky Skunk, who regularly blogs on her site, Poptropica Skunk Blog. Check it out, and enjoy! – 🐠)

popspiracy

Wait – hold the phone… 24 Carrot Island is going to be remade for New Poptropica?! I’ve got compelling evidence to think so.Ā Who knows, maybe other islands could also getĀ remade!Ā šŸ˜€

Our first piece of evidence is this sneak peek that was released on the Daily Pop a while back:

Hay There: This one is a real barnstormer.

Hay There: This one is a real barnstormer.

Take a look at the setting of this image. The skies are brown and it’s located inside a barn, just like the one on 24 Carrot Island – the barn we can’tĀ enter in the current version. The text on the barrel and crate have incomplete lettering on them – enough to speculate that it reads ā€œFunny Bunnyā€,Ā which is the name of the farm according to the sign there. Additionally, the man in the picture is wearing a hat with two pink rabbit ears.

Just the day before, there wasĀ another sneak peek – that of a homeless man. There is a bit of a similarity between the new design and this character from the current 24 Carrot – couldĀ the new guy be a remake of him?

24carrothomeless

Plus, remember those rat sneak peeksĀ on the Daily Pop we all complained about? And how there’s a rat inside the factory on 24 Carrot? The newer rat might just be that critter.

Oh Rats: Too busy around here for sneak peeks! Honest! It Moves: Only took a week.

Our final piece of evidence is a minor detail I found at the top of the monster worm picture from theĀ recent New Poptropica sneak peek. Oddly enough, they’ve removed the pic from the official Creators’ Blog post, but you can still see it below.Ā Among the file names up top, there are four thatĀ sound like they could belong on a new 24 Carrot Island – ā€œChar_Rig_Cook.aiā€, ā€œChar_Rig_Cook_whiteskin.aiā€, ā€œChar_Rig_CrazyComet.aiā€, and ā€œbody_parts_CC.aiā€.

If you don’t remember Crazy Comet, he’s one of the four children that got kidnapped by Dr. Hare to become one of the drones working in the factory. As for the Cook character(s), they may be workers in theĀ Carrot King Diner.

24carrotmissingkids

What do you think? Could the worm be related to 24 Carrot Island, and steal/protect the carrots? Who knows… I’m just sad that the first island wasn’t something like Early Poptropica, but you never know.
