PHB Review: Mythology Island

Mythology Island Review.png

Hello, mortals! It is I, Lucky Joker, reviewing and sharing my opinions regarding one of my favorite islands (if not my absolute favorite): Mythology Island. (Check out the PHB’s guide here!)

Playing this island is what really drew me to further look into Greek mythology, and I’ve gained quite an interest! When I saw the trailer for this island back in 2010, I was very thrilled. So much so, I begged my mother to buy me a membership so that I could have early access. Alright, enough about me

The Basics

Mythology Island is Poptropica’s 12th island and was released to Poptropicans April 1, 2010, but only playable to those who were members. Four weeks later on April 29, 2010, all players could enjoy the mythological quest the newly released island had to offer.

On April 25, 2014, it was re-released as an SUI to members. On May 3, the updated version was available to everyone. (For more trivial amusement and island extras, visit the Mythology Island page here on the PHB and/or the tour page over on Poptropica!)

Disclaimer: This review contains spoilers! If you have yet to complete this island, I suggest you turn away now. With that said, let’s pop right into the review- Olympus awaits!

Storyline & Characters

Mighty Zeus, king of the gods, needs a hero – and he wants you! To satisfy Zeus, you’ll need to battle monsters, swim the depths of the ocean, and descend into the mysterious underworld. Will you emerge a hero like Hercules, or face the fiery wrath of Zeus and his thunderbolts?

Prior to playing Mythology Island, I only knew of some of the more widely-known gods/goddesses like Zeus, Hades, and Aphrodite.  By the time I earned my medallion, I was a greek Mythology pro
well, for a nine-year-old at least. (Another backstory Lucky Joker?)

Throughout the island, we meet a wide variation of characters: mortals, demigods, gods/goddesses and other mythological creatures (like Satyrs and the Minotaur).

poptropica-mythology-athena poptropica-mythology-hermes poptropica-mythology-ares poptropica-mythology-demeter

A great spot on the island to learn more about the Greek gods/goddesses is the Museum of Olympus. Inside, you can learn some facts about each god/goddess exhibited, by clicking on his or her sculpture. I think this is an excellent feature and a great learning opportunity for kids. It’s also a great pastime if you haven’t got anything to do in Poptropica!

In the quest, you are asked, by Zeus,  to collect five sacred items to gain immortality. Obviously, Zeus doesn’t keep his promise and vows to rule all of Poptropica, but let’s move on.😛 These items include:

  1. Ring from the Minotaur
  2. Rare Flower
  3. Whisker from Cerberus
  4. Giant Pearl
  5. Hydra’s Scale

Mythology Five Sacred Items.png

Along the way, we meet the Minotaur, who possesses the ring in his nose. To get it, we must navigate through his Labyrinth – which was absolutely awesome! Secondly (depending on the order you complete the island), we meet the Sphinx and obtain the Rare Flower by rerouting the aqueducts to rejuvenate the garden.

Next, you obtain the whisker from Cerberus by putting him to sleep with a pleasant melody. In Poseidon’s temple, both the Giant Pearl and Hydra’s Scale are found.

In addition to all of those creatures, we meet many gods and goddesses, as said before. They all play a significant role in the island’s game-play, and I really love all of the personalities they possess.

  • Athena: goddess of Wisdom, aids your player throughout the entire quest. From the olive trees that give helpful hints to the string given to you to ease the way out of the Labyrinth, she’s there by your side!
  • Aphrodite: goddess of love and beauty, willingly gives you her mirror which greatly eases travel around the island– and even a bit fun!
  • Hercules: son of Zeus, provides access to the realms of Hades and Poseidon, as well as Mt. Olympus by using his super strength to eliminate the obstacles that block the entrances.
  • Hades: brother of Zeus and ruler of the Underworld, offers you his crown which allows you to grow large. Poseidon: brother of Zeus and ruler of the sea, gives you his trident in hopes of defeating Zeus. With the crown and the trident together at hand, you are able to defeat the mighty Zeus.

As for a story, I’m not sure Mythology told a direct story like some of Poptropica’s other islands. As for situational archetypes, we can see many examples like The Quest – the journey your character goes through to become immortal, The Initiation – when you’re crowned and given the trident thus becoming god-like and Good vs. Evil – the epic battle scene between your character and Zeus.

Visuals/Animation

mythology-main-street mythology-cerberus mythology-zeus mythology-the-garden-and-the-sphinx

The backgrounds for the island are absolutely stunning! Mythology Island has great visual depth compared to most classic islands like Shark Tooth and Early Poptropica. There’s so much detail in every scene, it’s overwhelming!
in the best way possible of course.😉

Some of the best-detailed parts, in my opinion, are Hades’ temple, the Temple of Apollo and the Tree of immortality area. I think the overall design of the island really gives a feel of what Ancient Greece might’ve looked like.

For the most part, the animation was simply fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed all of the cut-scenes throughout the island as well as some of the other animations like Zeus’ lightning strikes.

One of my favorite cut-scenes is where Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon defeat the Titans and claim their realms. I find it pretty neat how the pictures on the wall are able to speak. Also, who can forget about when Cerberus fell fast asleep? Simply adorable.

Honeycam 2016-11-22 16-47-47.gif

On the other side of the bridge, however, there is one glitchy animation I’d like to point out. For years now, The Hydra’s heads do not fully connect with the necks and the rest of the body. Not sure what happened there, but the creators’ deserve some slack. Compared to other SUIs, Mythology isn’t bad at all.

Soundtrack

Mythology’s main theme is one of the most soothing tunes I’ve ever heard, and It’s probably my favorite! It sets a relaxing vibe to the beautiful scenery, which I’ll get into later. Very well composed, Jeff Heim!

There are also other sound effects to admire like the chirping of the birds, the fierce growls of Cerberus, the raddling chains holding the Hydra, the sound of the lovely fish fountains and even the sound some of the pottery makes when you jump on it.

Conclusion

All in all, Mythology is one of Poptropica’s best islands in my opinion. The characters, the plot, the design, and the soundtrack are all attributes that make this island enjoyable and memorable. Whether you consider it to be a classic or just another SUI, Mythology is still one of the greats. Rating it from 1 to 5, I rate Mythology Island 5 out of 5 seastars!

Sunken sketches and concepts from Poptropolis Games!

Hey, guys! Slip here.

hipikachu

Welcome to another round of IoTM: Special Feature! Although there are two days left for November, Poptropica made a last-minute post about this month’s IoTMs (Islands of the Month)! Last time, we’ve had the spotlight on Shrink Ray Island’s concepts and sketches and now let’s move on to the other IoTM, Poptropolis Games!

As usual, being the Island of the Month gives out these special privileges:

  • First-time finishers get 500 credits, while replays get 300.
  • A special walkthrough from Captain Crawfish (check out ours here!)
  • Exclusive members-only items, Plant-A-Statue and Discus, are back for a limited time!

pgamesmembers

Now, let’s look at the different concepts and never-before-seen exclusives!

Let’s look at the character sketches, they look really cool! I must say that #4 and #5 with the soda hats look really fun, as well as the lady selling Poptropolis Games merchandise! The squid hat looks really funny, hehe. The second image contains more sketches of the major characters of the island: the master of ceremonies, the scorekeeper, and the ancient warrior. Their designs look pretty awesome if you ask me.

tribalcharactersketches_00 tribalcharactersketches_01

The next set of sketches and concepts are the statues and battle arenas found in the island itself. One is the volleyball arena that debuted in 2013 and the one is for weightlifting. As you can also see below, they also had sketches of some ruins on the island!

volleyballsketch sgquarrysketch_00-copy

That’s not the only treat we have from Poptropica! Skinny Moon added that in every island they make, the Creators follow a style guide—a way to make all designs in uniform and consistent. You may find a certain “Jeff” in the style guide and yes, that is Jeff Kinney! Jeff has an input on every Poptropica island as the Chief Creative Officer.🙂

summer-games-style-guide

Don’t they look so cool? We’ll hopefully see some more next month!

What islands do you think will be featured next month? Maybe they’ll be holiday-themed? Leave a comment about it below! I hope you enjoyed another round of IoTM: Special Feature! Until next time, stay awesome people!

Walking in a Wimpy Wonderland: IoTMs of December

$

Hello, everyone!

Lucky Joker here presenting December’s Islands of the Month!

This month’s featured islands are Wimpy Wonderland and PoptropiCon! I have to say Wimpy Wonderland is definitely fitting for the current season in the Northern Hemisphere. PoptropiCon on the other hand
eh, not so much. But hey! It’s a great island nonetheless.

December's IoTMs.png

As usual, first-time finishers of these islands will receive 500 credits and those who are replaying them will earn 300 credits.

But for PoptropiCon it’s a little different. You see, PoptropiCon is an episodic adventure so it would only make sense to offer more credits upon completing it, and that’s exactly what the Poptropica Creators have generously done! Each episode is worth the usual 500 or 300 credits depending on if you’ve played it or not. So that means you can obtain up to 1,500 credits after completing all three episodes for the first time, which I think is pretty cool! Also, the creators have gifted us by making Wimpy Wonderland available for all players to enjoy! It’s not specified whether this will be permanent or temporary, so complete it while you can!

I think making these islands with a very high credit prize definitely creates more interest for people who otherwise might not be really interested. It sure would work for me if I hadn’t already completed every island.😛

Of course, there has to be a walkthrough for every Island of the Month. Captain Crawfish has already made a video walkthrough for each PoptropiCon episode and is currently working on one for Wimpy Wonderland now has one as well.

You can either watch his walkthrough for PoptropiCon or read the one here on the PHB! I definitely suggest reading the PHB’s written walkthrough for Wimpy Wonderland, so you can hurry and earn those credits! (Update: Captain Crawfish has a video now too!)

PoptropiCon:

Wimpy Wonderland:

Well, I think it’s pretty cool that they finally featured both an episodic adventure and a non-SUI island for the IoTM. What do you guys think? Share your opinions in the comment section. Anyway, see you guys soon and POP on!

Celebrating the Holidays, the Poptropica Way

tc-holidays

(This is a guest post by Tall Cactus, who regularly blogs on her own site, Tall Cactus’ Poptropica Blog. In this post, she’ll share ways to enjoy the winter holidays on Poptropica. Enjoy! –🐠)

Hey guys, TC here. Let’s just say, I’m in a great mood. Why? The holiday season is finally here! Also known as my favorite time of the year. And it doesn’t just have to be a thing in real life. Today I want to share some tips with you all on how to celebrate the holidays, the Poptropica way.

“Pop 5” Icy Islands

With snow days and winter breaks, you may find yourself a bit bored, just sitting around. But don’t worry, because you could always play some islands on Poptropica! While each island is special in its own way and totally deserves to be played, some are particularly fitting for the cold season, and some just take a while to complete, which is perfect for days off from school.

Below is my list of the best 5 islands to play when you need entertainment on a snowy day, or just any day during the holiday season when you’ve got some free time. Remember, this list is just my opinion!

1. Wimpy Wonderland Island

Although this island is a bit lacking in my opinion, it does take place on a snow day – and that’s the theme we’re going for here!

img_6414

2. Astro-Knights Island

I have to say, Astro-Knights is one of the best islands overall. However, it takes a long time to complete, and some parts can be very difficult. That’s why it’s perfect to play when you have a lot of time on your hands. And guess what? There’s an ice planet!

img_6416

3. SOS Island

You’re trapped on an iceberg that has just wrecked a titanic ship. How much more ice do you need?

img_6417

4. Skullduggery Island

Sure, Skullduggery has no snow or cold weather whatsoever, but it has to be the longest island to finish. All that trading really takes time and patience. So if you have an upcoming holiday break, and you haven’t completed Skullduggery Island yet, this may be a good time to take it on.

img_6418

5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Island

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory takes place in winter, and there is lots of snow all around. And don’t forget about all the chocolate and candy – there’s a lot of that around, too!

img_6415

Festive Costumes

The Poptropica Store has a wide selection of holiday themed costumes available. You can even mix and match different parts and make your own.

pop xmas costumes

I’m the kind of person who loves making outfits for each major holiday on Pop, and doing it for Christmas or Hanukkah or other winter holidays is especially fun.

And I still haven’t made mine yet. I better do that soon

Holiday Parties

The celebration doesn’t just have to be in the game. Many blogs throughout the Poptropica community, including the PHB, hold holiday parties as Christmas gets closer. Here’s a recap video of a PHB Christmas party from two years ago. The PHC was on Xat back then, but this is the first year the Pop winter parties will be on Discord!

Even when there’s not a party happening, you can still hang out and talk on the PHC and other Discord servers to get in the holiday spirit.

Farewell to 2016

New Years’ may be far away, but before we know it, we’ll be saying goodbye to both the holiday season and 2016. So let’s try to make the most of the last month of this year!

As for 2017, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next. Always expect the unexpected.

My Place in Poptropica: Smart Flame

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Smart Flame, who played Poptropica when he had a computer to do so. See below for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip-smartflame

2010 – 2011 | Start & Pause

It all started in 2010, when I was only five years old. I saw my brother playing a game with a title I couldn’t quite yet pronounce, and I wanted to play as well.

That led me to create my first account, Fierce Eagle.  I instantly fell in love even though I couldn’t beat an island. Unfortunately by the end of the year, our 2008-model computer was practically busted, and with my brother glued to the other computer, playing Poptropica wasn’t an option for me.

By January of 2011, I had stopped playing. I forgot about the one thing that brought me to the game, that me and my brother had this in common. I didn’t even bring the thought of Poptropica to my mind throughout 2011.

2012 – 2013 | New Technology & An Afterthought

In the year 2012, we got a new computer, since the old one finally bit the dust. Although at this point I didn’t remember Poptropica, my brother brought it back into my life. With Fierce Eagle forgotten, I then became Blue Eagle, which leaves me still wondering, why two eagles?

But that passed, and now all I could ever wanted happened: I beat Reality TV Island and Super Power Island. I also was able to get farther progress on the other islands, making me get to the challenging parts of the islands, which kept me more interested.

I also discovered common rooms, and I was instantly amazed. The thought that there so many other people playing Poptropica, and that I could interact with them, started my journey into the community. Poptropica was once again the best thing ever – well, until 2013.

I began to take school more seriously, and I hung out with my friends a lot, so Poptropica became an afterthought. Also when my brother stopped playing, I had no one around me that played, so I wasn’t motivated to play. Another reason was that I had beaten the easier islands, and the ones that were left were too hard for me. Plus, my brother needed the computer for more important matters, so I rarely had computer time to play.

2014 | A New Chromebook & The PHB

In 2014, I got my own personal Chromebook laptop computer, and I randomly joined Poptropica with my Blue Eagle account.  The memories came back, and I realized that I missed so many changes in Poptropica.

I tried looking up guides for islands like Astro-Knights, and Skullduggery, when I came across the PHB. I started reading the blogs, becoming a stalker who read every post and comment ever written. I was especially interested in the costume contests because they involved Poptropicans so much.

During this time I also picked my two favorite islands, which are Mission Atlantis and Reality TV island.  I really grew into knowing what Poptropica is all about and completing everything I could. I felt like I had grown further in my journey to becoming a part of the Poptropica community.

2016 | The Community & Medallion Domination

I finished my 51st island in April, which to me was a major accomplishment, considering for that for two years I couldn’t beat a single island.

Fast forward to October, when I decided to comment to enter the PHB’s Halloween costume contest. And something surprised me – Slanted Fish replied to my comment! Even though it was just to tell me my link didn’t work, I was ecstatic. For years I had felt like only royalty could be witnessed by her, but here I was squirming with excitement. I didn’t waste any time to reply, indicating my excitement, and made sure my link worked this time.

After that, I continued to comment everywhere. But the place where I felt the most like a part of this community was the PHC, where I talked a lot and still do. On the PHC I found other players, and what was even cooler was our ability to talk about anything we wanted to.

My current account, Smart Flame, is my favorite, and my username is LMSEC if you want to friend me. Someday, I plan to make my own Poptropica blog and continue to grow in this community.

Smart Flame out.

Pop 5: Worst Islands of Poptropica

$

(This is a guest post by Happy Lobster, a Poptropica blogger with his own site, A Quota of Poptropica. Please note that the opinions below only represent those of the author. With that said, enjoy! –🐠)

worst5islands7

Hey there, Poptropicans! I’m Happy Lobster, and I’m here to bring you a Top 5 (or shall we say, Pop 5) post of the worst Poptropica islands, cherry-picked out of over fifty islands and episodes. Just before you look below and start screaming at my choices of what the worst islands are, please bear in mind that this is thoroughly-opinion based, so these islands may not be what you think are the five worst islands.

Also, the list below contains spoilers for the corresponding islands below, so read at your discretion. But if you haven’t played the following islands and you love spoilers, then please, continue reading!

The following islands will be assessed out of 100 for three categories: plot, gameplay, and art. Directly below is a quick guide to each of these subsets:

  • Plot refers to the general storyline and background of the island, and a good plot would be one that is creative, inventive, and that has clearly taken a lot of effort to place together;
  • Gameplay refers to how enjoyable the island is for a player, which for me (again, this post is solely opinion-based) would be interesting, suspenseful, and challenging, and;
  • Art, which is generally what makes up all the visual aspects of the island, and it is another large attribute to what makes an island enjoyable to play (like you would be thrilled if you had to play a sloppy island with bad shapes and terrible colours).

Then the three scores for each of the above factors will be combined into an average score out of 100, which will be the island’s total score.

Haven’t fallen asleep yet? Excellent. Without any further ado, let’s get started!

#5: Survival (Episode 2: Hook, Line and Sinker)

worst5islands6

After a not-so-epic first episode, the second episode of Survival starts off with your Poptropican climbing down a rope alongside a cliff. When you reach the bottom of the rope, a slightly violent gust of wind conveniently blows by then, and you fall off the rope. You end up landing on a tree, half-dazed for a few moments, and then you suddenly realise that you are hungry, and you set off in pursuit of a fish to catch and eat.

Like most other episodes in Poptropica, it is pretty short. At the very start of the quest, your Poptropican finds almost all of the items for later use in the episode conveniently strewn around trees for you to easily collect, all in just one scene. For most Pop quests, you would have to obtain all your items by accomplishing certain parts of the island, one at a time, and by practically throwing almost everything needed at you as soon as you enter the episode, it does not promise for a particularly developed or even merely challenging quest.

All you have to do for this episode is walk, jump and push certain entities for about five minutes, and it does require little thinking, which is something I personally like to be included in island quests. So it’s fair enough to say that neither the plot nor gameplay are that great. But, at least there are some positives – the art in Hook, Line and Sinker is fairly pleasant. With a picturesque sky with graceful tree silhouettes, the island’s aesthetic is visually pleasing.

worst5islands1

In any case, you can get a free Fishing Suit in the episode itself, which is an additional bonus, as it is unnecessary to finishing the quest, but it still looks pretty nice.

worst5islands11

#4: Mission Atlantis (Episode 1: Into the Deep)

worst5islands2

Upon arriving on the island, you’ll meet a filmmaker called Cam Jameson standing on a boat, who immediately asks for your help filming underwater footage of some fish, and asks you to find the key to a submarine, so the underwater filming can get started, or as Jameson puts it, ‘the greatest fish story ever told!’. To acquire the key to the sub, you’ll have a fun time kicking buckets of ink over people’s heads, and then you will get the key.

The first part of the episode is rather quick and easily the most boring scene from it, so there won’t be any particularly lacklustre parts from now on during the episode. But that’s not to say it’s going to be particularly exciting, either. Anywho, when you get into the ‘Bubble’ submarine pod, and go underwater, you’ll proceed around the ocean, taking photos of sea creatures, most of which will require simple and vaguely interesting means to get a clear photo of them.

Once you complete taking photos of all the assigned creatures, you’ll spot a rare Hydromedusa, which you follow to the depths of the ocean. You’ll meet a whole clique of the unusual creatures, who’ll come over and electrocute your sub, taking all its power. The Bubble will sink to the deepest, darkest precinct of the sea, revealing the remains of an almost forgotten myth
 the lost city of Atlantis.

Most of the episode isn’t very exhilarating. The plot isn’t so great – you take pictures of some sea creatures, and then you conveniently stumble upon Atlantis. There’s not that much to it, and it probably took little effort to think up. In accordance with that, the gameplay is a little tedious. But just as with Survival, the art is definitely good. Well, in the underwater scenes, anyway, since the ship scene is pretty nondescript. The best part of the island is certainly around the end, where the scene zooms out and divulges the most breathtaking feature of all in the episode.

worst5islands3

#3: Monkey Wrench Island

worst5pop1

When you start this island, you’ll find yourself in an airborne plane that looks like it has seen better days. In front of you in the plane, is Amelia Earhart, who in real life, was the historical pilot who went missing flying over the Pacific eighty years ago. The Flying Ace race is beginning, and once an official comes over to tell you all that you will be competing for the Monkey Wrench medallion as a prize. And just like that, the race is underway! You’ll be flying among several other Poptropicans with varying costumes and means of flying. But just moments after the race begins, a woman in a red plane, called the Red Baroness comes over, and throws a wrench at your plane. Spluttering with clouds of black smoke, your plane crashes on a small island in the middle of Poptropica’s endless seas

You’ll momentarily be in a daze on this new island, but you’ll be woken by a monkey. He’ll guide you through the island, dotted with a few unavoidable setbacks, which are momentary tutorials that’ll teach you how to walk, run, jump, and also how to change your Settings. It’s not as if a lot of you really need this, but after all, it is a tutorial for new Pop players. You’ll meet the chatty Crusoe, who tricks you and Amelia by making you give him materials to make a hammock and a drink for him. He then shows you his plan for a brilliant blimp to get back into the Flying Ace Race, and asks you to build it.

worst5islands8

Yeah
maybe brilliant is not the right word to describe it.

But then a monkey comes forward with a another plan – and this plan shows a sketch of your old, trusty Poptropica blimp, surrounded by unusual Nordic runes, which I’d guess translate into measurements and material names. The monkey certifies that it can build it, after you ask it. The yellow blimp is soon made, and you’re back in the race!

You’ll then find that the ever-annoying Crusoe is accidentally with you and Amelia, so you’ll trick him into leaping into the Red Baroness’ plane, which distracts the Baroness and causes her plane to crash. Consequently, you will win the race, and therefore obtain the Monkey Wrench medallion.

So
suffice to say, your Poptropican does not get the most active on this island out of all the other islands. The gameplay of this quest comes crashing down like the Baroness for me. The storyline is quite simple, and one might even say that it is pretty crude. But the art within this island is spectacular, in clarity, colour and detail. But still, this island was meant as a tutorial for new players, and I think Poptropica has definitely delivered on this. It has been made easy to play for beginners to understand Pop and its quests, and MW definitely conveys a clear sense of adventure, an element that I think is certainly a necessity in any Poptropica island.

worst5pop2

#2: Virus Hunter Island

worst5islands4

Just about a minute into the quest, and you’ll meet a strange man atop the Globochem building, who believes the government is up to something. He’ll tell you that if you can prove that the government has set up a shop in the building he’s standing on, he’ll help you get inside. So, after catching a very inconspicuous-looking truck, with the name Pizza Delivery Company, you’ll bring back a bag of shredded documents, dropped by the truck’s driver. Piece them together, and you’ll end up with three complete documents, one of which shows how to get in the PDC’s secret laboratory. The strange guy will then give you a fake PDC badge.

After accessing the Poptropica Disease Center’s lab with you fake badge, you’ll meet Dr. Lange, who’ll tell you that your badge is a phony, but she really wants a volunteer to stop the virus. She’ll show you a slightly creepy video about the CC13 Influenza, and then send you on your way with two items. Then, after a bit of rummaging through bins, talking to falafel guys, following falafel guys and taking photos of falafel guys’ customers (now that’s what I call not stalking), you’ll be back at the PDC, and you’ll show her the picture of Joe Stockman (the falafel customer), who is also Patient Zero, the person containing the perilous virus. Dr. Lange will then take you to another room, reassures your Poptropican that they have 99% success chance of nothing going wrong when she shrinks you (very reassuring), and then the giant machine facing you fires a laser at you, and you’ll shrink to a nano-sized Poptropican.

You’ll then be in a tutorial, which will show you how to control your ship, the Panacea, which comes with four individual weapons. After the tutorial, a PDC scientist will give Joe Stockman some Chinese food, and you and the Panacea are in it. He’ll eat it, and you’ll now be inside Patient Zero’s stomach! You’re in for an adventure like no other Poptropican quest – you’ll travel all over inside a Poptropican’s body, fighting killer viruses, which, to be honest, do look very impressive.

In all, Virus Hunter is far from the classics. For this island, the storyline is poorly developed. After all, we only know about the Poptropica Disease Center, disguised as the Pizza Delivery Company in public, which finds out the person with the hazardous virus, and they send you in a nano-sized robotic ship, in Patient Zero’s body, to stop it. How did the virus come about? Why is Stockman Patient Zero? There are several questions in Virus Hunter that aren’t answered. The gameplay is definitely full of action – but only in a few parts, when you have to face off against the more major viruses, Otherwise, the action is a little dull. And the island is also glitchy in several areas, being the first official SUI. For the art, to be perfectly honest, is mostly tedious inside the body, and a few sections could even be considered as gross. But like I said before, the appearances of the viruses are quite impressive, which definitely boosts up the island’s visual attributes.

#1: Wimpy Wonderland Island

worst5islands12

As soon as you get off the blimp on this island, you’ll encounter Greg Heffley, the protagonist of the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series. He’ll say that his younger brother, Manny, has disappeared while Greg was supposed to be babysitting him. Greg is obviously the best babysitter around, isn’t he?

Like the inquisitive Poptropican you are who gets itself tangled in trouble and mystery just upon touching the island, you set off immediately in pursuit to find Manny. The island actually is reasonably fun to play, with several lively scenes; you get to ride a Rumble Bike, chase Manny around a school, climb up Leisure Towers with numerous chances to get belted with random objects thrown at you by elderly residents, play bingo (for those of you folks out there who love puzzle games) push a giant snowball that avalanches over the Whirley Street kids, and perhaps the most fun of all, you get to sled over hills to get back to the Heffleys’ house.

In short, the gameplay is very enjoyable. But in total contrast, is the art (excuse my bad puns). With the whole island being mostly white, with hints of black and negligible traces of blue, it makes for an aesthetic that is boring and depressing in equal measure. The plot – a little better than the visual aspects. Again, like the first episode of Mission Atlantis, the storyline isn’t really developed, but Wimpy Wonderland’s general plot is definitely better than Into the Deep. Some may think it’s just ‘you lose Manny, then you find Manny’, but there are several aspects of the plot between those two phrases, many of these being connections and references to the actual Wimpy Kid series.

worst5islands9

Moreover, there is an extra you’ll receive in this island: a video game called Twisted Wizard. If you love zapping ogres while being a wizard, this is the perfect game for you.

Well, ending on that note, that’s it for now. I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments: What do you think are the worst five islands?

Pop 5: Features We’d Love in New Poptropica

$

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post written by Perfect Sky, a Poptropica player who’s also quite active in the community. In this post she’ll be sharing her ideas for New Pop. Enjoy! –🐠)

pop5-ps

Hey everyone, it’s Perfect Sky!

So, with the year coming to an end and the New Poptropica on its way, I thought now would be a good time to share some features I’d love to see added to the game. I’m not going to cover the basics such as new islands or more multiplayer games and chat options, since most of us have already heard those many times. Instead, I’m going to list the top 5 ideas I have, aside from common ones that everyone’s been talking about. Well, let’s begin!

5. Returning Costumes

Although lots of members like to buy every single item in the store, I prefer to only buy costumes I like enough to wear. However, I’ve made the mistake of buying something simply because it’s new, then realizing I’d get no use out of it shortly after. At least for me, it gets annoying to have my inventory cluttered up with costumes I would never wear.

As for non-members, whether you clicked the wrong button and accidentally bought something you didn’t intend on buying, or just don’t like an item anymore, a feature to return items back to the store would be very useful. But, whether you’d get all your credits back or not would be up to the creators. (Perhaps they could give full refunds if it’s very recent, which would be helpful for misclicks, and partial refunds for up to a certain amount of days.)

4. See who friended you back

One great feature we currently have in the game is how you can add friends without them having to add you back. It just makes the process so much easier. But what about those moments when you start feeling a little curious and just sit there for a while, staring at your friends list, wondering which of your friends actually added you to their lists? Just kidding, I totally don’t that

But it would be pretty cool if we could actually see which of our friends added us. Whether that would be some kind of star on their profile, or just a separate friends list for people who added you back, it would be nice to see.

3. Custom Photos

Ever since the addition of the Photo Booth, I always wished I could save custom photos to the photo album on my profile. It would be a fun way to make our profiles more personalized. And, it would be even better if we could add our own captions to the pictures. Of course, the pictures and captions would have to be approved before appearing in the photo album, similar to how Realms need to be approved before becoming public.

This feature would most likely be members-only, but it would still be cool.

2. Seasonal Multiverse Rooms

After so many years of creating and joining Multiverse rooms, the same old settings become pretty boring. But rather than just adding a few new rooms, it would be much more exciting if the Creators mixed things up a bit by making different seasonal Multiverse rooms, in addition to the current ones.

In the winter, we could hold parties in snowy, Christmas-themed rooms, and in the summer, beach party rooms would be available. Preferably, this feature would provide three additional multiverse rooms for each of the four seasons.

1. Gifting Credits

If you’re a member, then you’ve definitely noticed how the credits keep piling up, and there’s absolutely nothing to do with them.

credits

Honestly, the idea of gifting credits to other players is probably the feature I’d love to see added to the game most. Many virtual worlds provide options for players to give their friends presents, but Poptropica doesn’t have any similar features. Rather than letting the credits go to waste, it would be great if we could gift credits to our friends. And with Christmas coming up, this would be the perfect time for a gifting feature.

Well, that’s all for this list. Fell free to share your ideas in the comments below!

Snap up your LEGO Moana Mania!

Hey Poptropicans!

As if a Home Island makeover and advertisement building for the Disney animated film Moana wasn’t enough, there is now another Moana ad – but not just any Moana – LEGO Moana! (Oh, you thought we were done with that Moana mania, didn’t you. Well, try piecing this one together.)

This one is just a video, which will give you a Crazy Kakamora. When equipped, pressing the spacebar will launch a bunch of Kakamora LEGO heads on your screen! (Thanks to G-Hopper for the pictures!)

legomoana1 legomoana2

In other news, Poptropica is back at it with their Snapchatting! Earlier this week, Skinny Moon (who runs all of Poptropica’s social media) posted a snap of herself in her Poptropica-decked home office with a bunny filter from Snapchat, in honor of Dr. Hare (of course!). Plus, she’s updated the profile pic, which was part of a fan drawing by Maryann P. Looking good!

There have also been a few other snaps in her Snapchat story lately, including her Christmas tree, Toby the #PoptropicaPup, and her scrolling through entries for the #MyPoptropicaCostume contest on Instagram and Twitter and encouraging everyone to join (with her voice!).

sm-snap sm-snap2

Skinny Moon was also hanging around the Home Island Arcade common room earlier today, as seen in this tweet:

And here on the PHB, we’ve had quite a few fun guest posts lately, which we think you should definitely check out! If you have something Poptropica-related you’d like to share with the community, we encourage you to send it along to us and your writing may be featured in a future guest post!

Check out our recent guest posts below:

And while we wait for more news, be sure to enter the official #MyPoptropicaCostume contest! The deadline is coming up in about three weeks (December 31st), and remember, you can have up to 3 entries! Check out our post on this contest for more details.

Stay popping,

My Place in Poptropica: Purple Claw

$

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Purple Claw, a Poptropica blogger who enjoys being in the community. See the bottom of this post for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip-pc

Hey there! I’m Purple Claw, a Poptropica fan blogger and community member. Before I start telling you my story, I would really appreciate it if you could check out my blog, Clawtropica (clawtropica.wordpress.com)! Now, let’s get started!

2012 | Before Poptropica

I was a normal kid like everyone else, living in a small town in Greece. In my free time, I used to read the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I was (and I still am!) a big fan of these books! I didn’t know what Poptropica was, so I didn’t have a life.😛

Back then I used to play tons of games, but can’t remember all of their names. The only ones I can remember were: Minecraft, Animal Jam, and a few random games on my tablet. However, Poptropica is the only game I play now.

2013 | Discovering Poptropica

One rainy day, our class was at the computer lab, and one of my classmates introduced me to an awesome game: Poptropica!😉 I made an account, jumped into my blimp, and started my first adventure on Early Poptropica Island! Unfortunately, I soon forgot all about Poptropica, but I started re-playing it after I moved to the UK

2014 | Re-Discovering Poptropica

At my new school in England, a lot of people used to play Pop, and someone re-introduced to the game.

When I went home, I opened my computer and searched ‘’Poptropica’’ on Google. I clicked on the first result, and I remembered the game I’d forgotten all about. I made a new account and played the first episode of Arabian Nights Island: How Bazaar.

Since I was bad at beating islands, I used Thinknoodles’ YouTube walkthroughs to help me out. I used this account until the end of 2014, which was when everyone else at my school stopped playing Poptropica.

2015 | The Birth of Purple Claw

Since I couldn’t remember the username and password of my previous account, I made a new one. The username I chose was ‘’donatloul’’ (which is my current account) and my Poptropican’s name was Purple Claw. I actually hated that name because purple isn’t my color. I didn’t know you could change your name by clicking ‘’Change All’’ so I was forced to stick with Purple Claw. I started beating islands like the good, not-so-old times.😛

That July, something terrible happened: 7 sponsored islands became members only! I was really upset because Red Dragon was the only island I hadn’t beaten. You might think I stopped playing Pop this time too, but no. I wanted to beat all the islands, so I continued playing the other islands, and after doing that, I could beg my dad to get me a 1-month membership. By the end of December, I had 37 island medallions on my medallion list.

2016 | The Poptropica Community

In February, I discovered the amazing Poptropica Help Blog, the home of the Poptropica community. The authors were so fun and creative, the graphics were magical, and everything about the PHB was just awesome! I began to check the PHB every day, and I still do!

The following month, in March, something awesome happened: we could vote to unlock one of the 7 members only islands. Since most of people voted for Red Dragon, I was really glad I could finally earn all the island medallions.

In April, I joined the Poptropica Help Chat (the PHC). I met some amazing people and I made tons of friends. I would like to give a shout-out to my closest friends: Shaky Skunk, Happy Lobster, Tall Cactus, Perfect Sky, White Ice, Hyper Gamer, Short Dolphin, and Young Singer. Thank you for being my friends!

On May 13, I decided to create my own Poptropica blog: and so, Clawtropica was born! I have to admit that at the beginning, it looked really bad, but after making some improvements, it got better.

That summer, Clawtropica was nominated for the PHB’s Poppies Awards 2016. I would like to thank everyone who helped us make it to the voting round. We ended up in third place!😀

In August, my friend Hyper Gamer had a wonderful idea: to connect active Poptropica blogs in one big network, the Poptropica Bloggers Network! I helped him set up some stuff, and voila, the PBN was created. You can check out the PBN here (poptropicabloggersnetwork.wordpress.com).

The Pop community might be small, but it’s my true home. Everyone here is so nice! I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. Without you, I wouldn’t be a bad artist, a blogger, a PHC staff member, and heck, I wouldn’t even be myself without you guys! Everyone in this awesome community is wonderful.❀

Hope you guys enjoyed my MPIP! See you around, bye!

Want your own meme face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most recent PMFM post (just choose the top one of the list, here). Be sure to follow the criteria below:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the meme face on Poptropica and keep it on for at least a week.
  • As mentioned, find the most recent PMFM post (it will be at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the meme face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the meme is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve basis, so your meme face will come after all of the ones before are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to re-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I reply to your comment mentioning “You being added to the list,” then I have seen your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will be made after each one before is made.

This completes round fifty-four of meme faces. Tune in next Monday for the next Poptropican Meme Face Mondays!

What do you think about this week’s meme faces? Comment below.

Community Celebrities: Tall Cactus and Perfect Sky!

commcelebfusion

Hi, everyone! Slip here.

cactus

A while back, I offered nominations for the next Community Celebrities. Interestingly enough, two Poptropicans who have been in the spotlight for quite a while now – Tall Cactus and Perfect Sky – both nominated each other! I decided to interview them together for this next Community Celebrities post.

You can learn more about each of them in their respective MPIP (My Place in Poptropica) stories here on the PHB: Tall Cactus and Perfect Sky. But of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Let this interview tell you more about these famed personalities in our community.

—

Can you introduce your friend to everyone in 10 words? Also, mention their usernames!

TC: Perfect Sky, Community Appreciation winner, runs an outstanding YouTube channel. (Her username on Poptropica is stupiddirectord)

PS: Meet the awesome, award-winning blogger, Tall Cactus! (Her username on Poptropica is macandcheese520)

If there were two islands you could “mash” together, what would they be?

TC: I’d mash together Mission Atlantis and Lunar Colony. I’m not exactly sure how this mashup island would go, but it’s been confirmed that MA and LC both feature the same alien race, and that’s why I feel like they could be one amazing, story-filled island together.

PS: I would say Monster Carnival and Ghost Story. I loved MC: the storyline, setting, and the soundtrack was awesome. I think the Creators did a good job with the overall creepiness of the island. That is, until the monster transformation. Random, generic “monsters” just aren’t scary at all, so I think it could use a little something extra. That’s where Ghost Story would come in.

Would you prefer the current Poptropica or the upcoming New Poptropica?

TC: To be honest, I prefer Old Pop. It’s the Poptropica I’ve grown to love these past couple years, I have so many memories from the first time I played Poptropica in March 2015. However, I’m sure the New Pop will be just as awesome. It’s just that the nostalgia from the Old Pop just overpowers it.

PS: Well, I just love the Old Poptropica. I have so many great memories, as a player since early 2008. But even though nothing can really compare to the game I’ve known and loved for many years, I think the New Pop will be good in its own way.

What do you think of the New Poptropica?

TC: When it was first announced back in April, I was really upset and worried, but now I’m just anxious for it to come out. I’m not really sure what to think of it at the moment since we haven’t gotten many details, yet I have a much better feeling about it now compared to before.

PS: Honestly, I was really sad when it was first announced. But at this point, I’m actually starting to look forward to it in some ways. I guess we’ll see how it goes.

Besides the PHB, which other Poptropica fan blogs would you recommend?

TC: All of the fan blogs are special in their own way, and they all bring unique content for everyone to enjoy.

PS: There are so many creative Poptropica blogs out there, all providing great content. But to give a few examples, I’d say Tall Cactus’ Poptropica Blog, Clawtropica, and the Poptropica Skunk Blog.

What’s your current Island Medallion count?

TC: I currently have all 58 medallions. Hopefully, more are added soon! (I actually got the Beta Carrotene medallion by glitching, shhh
)

PS: I have 57 at the moment, with Home Island being the only one I’m missing. The sad thing is, I actually completed the Home Island quest like 20 times on the app.

What’s the best thing about the Poptropica community?

TC: The people, definitely the people. They are so kind and welcoming; I’ve made many friends here. To me, good friendships and enjoyable experiences are much more important than having a popular blog or whatnot.

PS: The people! I’ve met so many nice people here, and nothing means more to me than that.

If you could swap hobbies for a day with your friend, what hobby would it be?

TC: I’d love to try making some Poptropica YouTube videos. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to have a YouTube channel, so it would be cool to experience having one for 24 hours.

PS: I think blogging would be pretty fun, since I never really blog aside from occasional guest posts.

Do you have anything to say to the Poptropica community?

TC: Don’t worry about New Pop, I’m sure it’ll be great. Instead, enjoy the current Poptropica as it is and live in the moment. Don’t lose hope in the game, or the community, no matter what the future holds.

PS: This community is truly awesome, and it wouldn’t be as great without all of you contributing to it in your own special ways. Be creative, and don’t give up.

Who would you like to thank?

TC: I’d like to thank everyone reading this post, and all the Creators of Poptropica, one of the greatest games ever in my opinion.

PS: I’d like to thank all of my subscribers on YouTube, and everyone who comments on my videos. It really means so much to me! I also want to thank the Creators for making such an amazing game!

—

Cut! That’s a wrap! First off, to Perfect Sky and Tall Cactus, thank you so much! I’m deeply sorry that this post didn’t come out earlier as I had hoped. I hope you enjoyed the interview as much as I did! I had lots of fun talking to you two!

To everyone, Community Celebrities will be back next year, hopefully. Nominations for the next to be interviewed are currently closed. See you all later in this year’s Poptropica Rewind! :>

Let it snow some LEGO!

Heyo readers!

It looks like Home Island has been given a nice wintery makeover, with snow on the ground, snow in the air, and warmer attire on the townspeople. Hope you didn’t put too much money into those summer clothes – you’re going to be needing a change to stand this cold! (Nobody better make a Frozen joke. It’s been three years and I’m ready to be done with that by now. Please.)

winter3 winter-update winter4 winter2 winter1 winter6

(Thanks to Pea Sea/PC for the gif, and Slanted Fish for the rest of the pics.)

They’ve also moved the winter/Christmas-themed gold cards and costumes to the front of the list for easier access to those who haven’t purchased these costumes yet. The items aren’t new, although some have been out of the store for a while, so it’s good to have them back!

The gold card items are: Candy Cane-on, Little Candy Cane, Snow Fall, and Winter Blast Flavor PopGum. For costumes, we have the Snowman, Tangled in Lights, Candy Cane, Elf, and Holiday Ball.

winter7

Would it be bad to say I just understood the pun of “Candy Cane-on”? Because I hadn’t understood it before today. I’m bad at puns.

In addition, there’s a new ad for LEGO Friends, also on Home Island. Just click it to get the prize – nothing too complicated. You’ll get a Sledgehammer that you can whack into the ground!

winter5

I can’t believe LEGO Friends stole the Hotdog Costume from Poptropica. Disappointing

Meanwhile on social media, Poptropica’s very own Skinny Moon has found a picture of Shark Boy and even promised “more behind the scenes stuff tomorrow”! Stay tuned for that.

It’s interesting that Shark Boy is being acknowledged, considering The Mysterious Disappearance of Shark Boy that happened a couple years ago.

Unfortunately, I’ve got some sad news for all of you – this is my last post on the Poptropica Help Blog. Fishy and I have decided it’s for the best that this chapter of my life comes to a close.

Historically, I’ve phased in and out of fandoms quickly. This second spurt of my enjoyment of Poptropica was one of the most fun spurts I’ve ever had though. It’s not that I’ve grown up or moved past it or anything like that – my current interests include a show aimed at elementary schoolers, for crying out loud! It’s just that my interest has waned for a little bit. Until then, I’ll enjoy my other fandoms, and I plan to stick around, if you all will have me.

I’ve just started up my own all-ages personal wordpress blog over at ylimegirl.wordpress.com, so feel free to check it out if you so wish. It was fun getting to know so many of you in the community! I’ll cherish this time we got to spend together for the rest of my life.

See you again sometime,

Winter lore and headquarter tours

Hey guys, my name is Brave Tomato and I’m here with another poppin’ post for you all!

Yesterday, on the Creator’s Blog, Skinny Moon thought it would be cool to make a post about the inside of PopHQ itself, located in Boston, Massachusetts!

Although it’s nothing absolutely spectacular, Jessica went out of the way to show us all the merchandise toys that they have within the office as well as the never-before-seen wall clings that take up wall portions around the HQ. Some of these clings have been seen before in the Periscope livestream that Jessica hosted just last March, but it’s still cool to see the uniqueness of the locale anyway!

hq2 hq3 hq4 hq5 hq6

In addition, in the Creator’s post, Jessica says that the in-office Berry Delicious Smoothie area (based off the infamous beverage franchise from Zomberry Island) is more so used for getting work done and meeting with other Creators as opposed to actually selling smoothies. Well, good thing we don’t have to worry about having the Creators turn into blue zombies any time soon! ;P

As a side note, just in time for the holiday season, the official 2016 holiday graphic has officially been shown!

falalalala is it new pop.jpg

It might look like just like any other graphic, but there is a chance that this is a glance at the look of New Poptropica! After all, one of the things promised was a newly updated look for Poptropicans, and these two kids look like they could possibly visualize this. From their eye colors to the sleeves and mittens, and even down to the shoes, there is a different vibe as compared to a typical Poptropican. Then again, it could always just be my wishful thinking taking over and that this is just a stylized piece, yet it still looks cool either way!

Anyway, since the end of the year is fast approaching, the question of the hour is: will New Poptropica actually make its rounds this year as promised? If we hear of or see anything, we can promise to you that the Poptropica Help Blog will be here to share it!

BT out!

My Place in Poptropica: Fearless Peanut

$

This is the My Place in Poptropica story of Fearless Peanut, whose Poptropica playing was influenced by a rivalry with her brother. See below for details on sending in your own MPIP!

mpip-fp

2011 – 2012 | Brother & Beginning

It was way back 2011 when I first saw my brother playing Poptropica, and that’s how I discovered it. For some reason, it was kinda weird for me because when I was watching him play, I felt so familiar with it, like I’d played it before or maybe I dreamed about something like it before I discovered it. Weird, right? But it didn’t stop me from being curious about it.

I asked my brother what he was playing but he wouldn’t tell me, instead saying something like, “This is game isn’t for you.” I was disappointed by his words, yet I still watched him play. After I watched him finished the islands (it was Mythology Island and Red Dragon Island) I said to myself, I’m going to play it whether he likes it or not.

And the very next day, I created my very first account (which is I don’t remember anymore). The first island I ever played was Red Dragon Island. Being a beginner, I didn’t know what to do – I was so clueless that I created another account and put it on the same island again and again.

It wasn’t until I saw my brother watching a walkthrough of another island on Poptropica on YouTube that I started figuring things out. After I saw him do that, I went on YouTube and typed in the YouTuber’s name (it was Graser10). Then I watched his walkthrough on Red Dragon Island and I was so happy, finally knowing how to finish that island.

I created another account which I used, although I regret my embarrassing username. Anyway, the name of my Poptropican is Fearless Peanut, which I figured was a very decent name at the time, especially as I had been listening to Taylor Swift’s song “Fearless”.

2012 – 2013 | The Rivalry

It was the following year where I started having a Poptropica rivalry with my brother. Every time he finished another island, I would go there as well, watching one of Graser10’s walkthrough videos so I could finish it by the end of the day. My brother knew about this and decided to have bet with me: the first person to finish all the islands would win.

Being a player and a fighter myself, I took on the challenge. It was one of my most memorable days because every time I finished an island he hadn’t finished yet, I always helped him with it, and as time went by, we almost forgot about the bet.

2013 – 2015 | The Hiatus

As far as I can remember, this was the year where I started getting bored on Poptropica. After finishing all the islands, and repeating all of it again and again and waiting for another island to be release, I started losing interest.

I figured I should stop and leave Poptropica for a while until a new island came, so I stopped playing Poptropica for a while and played other games on the computer.

For a whole year, I didn’t played Poptropica. I totally forgot about it, plus I was so busy with other things in my school life and my personal life, since it was my first year of high school and it wasn’t going great.

2015 – 2016 | The Comeback

Little by little, I got myself back to Poptropica again. During my computer period at school, I would see about a quarter of my classmates playing Poptropica when it was our free time.

While watching them from the far corner (I like corners because people don’t see me – I’m a self-proclaimed anti-social person
sorry), I noticed there were new islands on Poptropica. I was so excited about it and planned to play them, but got distracted with other school things and forgot about it.

However, during this time I also lost my brother, the only person who would play Poptropica with me – my Poptropica rival. One reason I didn’t feel like playing Poptropica was because I didn’t want to be reminded of this.

2016 – present | The Golden Age

I eventually got over it and started playing Poptropica again, deciding to become part of its fandom. This started around my summer vacation when I was surfing on fanfiction.net to find some fan fiction to read. I suddenly wondered, just for fun, if there were any Poptropica fanfics on the site. There were, so I started reading those fanfics (my favorites were written by PoptropicaGirl79). I started to remember those memories I had when I was playing Poptropica before.

I was so excited to find any fanfics related to Poptropica that I kept looking for more. I searched on DeviantArt, and not only did I find fanfics, but I also found a lot of Poptropica fan art!

That same year, I also discovered the PHB! At the time, I didn’t realize it was the same blog I keep searching when I didn’t feel like watching the walkthroughs on YouTube. Anyway, even now, I keep coming back here every day to see if they have the latest news about the New Poptropica (which I’m so excited for!), or random posts like the MPIP stories, and much more!

I also enjoy drawing my Poptropican and other Poptropica characters, which has led me to discover many interesting Poptropica stories! I’m glad my love for Poptropica is back.

Without much thought, I have become part of Poptropica fandom. I’ve met many amazing people in this community, and I’ve also joined the PHC under the name FearlessPeanut_Osoko. At first I was totally scared to chat on the PHC because I was worried about offending people or saying things that would be boring, but I’ve gotten over it! You can chat with me if you like – don’t worry, I’m easy to befriend!

So that’s all about me! Thank you for reading MPIP!!

Hope you enjoyed this “My Place in Poptropica” story! Feel free to send in your own (please include a minimum of 550 words, type with good spelling and grammar, divide it into labeled sections, and include your username). Look out for more community MPIPs every weekend!

A Perfect Introduction to a New Author

Hey everyone!

My name is Alissa, but you can just call me Perfect Sky, or PS for short. Lots of you may already know me from the PHC, my YouTube channel, or the guest posts I’ve previously written for the PHB.

So, as some of you probably heard on the PHC, my birthday was two days ago. Before my birthday, I already knew what most of my gifts would be. They mostly consisted of money, gift cards, and chocolate, which is pretty much all I wanted. But little did I know when I woke up in the morning, that I would receive a message from Fishy that evening, inviting me to join the PHB. I was shocked!

img_3340

Now, for some background. I started playing Poptropica in February 2008, so I’ve absolutely loved the game for nearly 9 years now. My very first Poptropican was named Sticky Foot, although I don’t remember the username. I made several different Poptropicans, until I finally made my current account in 2009, and decided to stick with it. My username is stupiddirectord, if you want to friend me. I still don’t know why I chose that username, all I remember is that I just completed Spy Island on a different account, and I was mad at Director D.

In the summer of 2013, I created a YouTube channel, where I post Poptropica movies. I was originally inspired to make Pop videos by a channel called PoptropicaStars, which had a series called Fashion Fever. Yeah, I was obsessed. Over the past few years, I guess I’ve become more creative with my videos ideas. I’m obviously no where near professional, but anything is better than my earliest videos. What was I even thinking when I made those?

Joining YouTube was my first experience in the Poptropica community. However, I didn’t know how big the community actually was until I joined Discord this past summer. Well, I don’t want to keep blabbing on about this, so feel free to check out my MPIP for more details.

Anyway, my hobbies include procrastinating my homework to spend many hours a day on Discord, and well
that’s it. Okay, that’s an exaggeration. I multitask and do homework while chatting on Discord. Some of my other interests include Food Network (especially Chopped), jazz music, politics, art, and of course, making videos.

Well, that’s all for now. Once again, I want to thank all the authors for this amazing opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to posting here on the PHB!

– Perfect Sky

A Happy New Author is Popping in!

Hey there, Poptropicans! My name is Happy Lobster, but since I’m more commonly known as HL for short, you can just call me that. And, as many of you might have guessed by now, I am the newest PHB author!

My username on Poptropica is topkop88, so feel free to add me any time you like!

hl.png

I’m a 14-year-old boy, and I live in Australia. The amazing Poptropica community is now a colossal part of my life, and I’ve been around amongst it for about a year now, but I’ve been blogging since April. But when I’m not chatting on the PHC and blogging, a few of my favourite pastimes are reading, drawing, table tennis, reading some more, and playing the saxophone and piano – just to name a few.

Anyway, you may know me from the two guest posts I’ve done here on the PHB in the past: Popspiracy: Origins of Poptropica, of which I wrote alongside Shaky Skunk and Tall Cactus; and Pop 5: Worst Islands of Poptropica; the latter of which would be a little fresher in your memories. Likewise, you may also recognise me from my own blog, A Quota of Poptropica, which you should really check out (totally not shameless self-advertising 😉). Or maybe you’ve just never heard the words ‘Happy’ and ‘Lobster’ strung together before now, but that’s fine, by all means.😛

I also work on two other Poptropica fansites: the Poptropica Skunk Blog and Clawtropica, two superb blogs that I also highly recommend you check out.

With that said, I’m definitely looking forward to the incoming chapters of my time here at the PHB – and, again, I would like to thank the blog for granting me this wonderful opportunity to work here! See you soon, and remember to stay popping!

Welcome to round fifty-five of PMFM (Poptropican Meme Face Mondays)!

ps-birthdaymemeface

Want your own 🐝me face?

Well, it’s simple. Comment on the most 🐝cent PMFM post (just choose the top one of the list, here). 🐝 sure to follow the criteria 🐝low:

  • Very crucial: Wear the outfit you want to have in the 🐝me face on Poptropica and 🐝p it on for at least a 🐝k.
  • As mentioned, find the most 🐝cent PMFM post (it will 🐝 at the top of this list)
  • Include your Poptropican username in a comment.
  • Include the 🐝me face you would like on your Poptropican in your comment (a link to an image of the 🐝me is very preferred).
  • Post your comment and wait! (PMFM is operated on a first come-first serve 🐝asis, so your 🐝me face will come after all of the ones 🐝fore are released).
  • Just a note: You do not need to 🐝-comment on newer posts if you haven’t gotten yours yet. Once I 🐝ply to your comment mentioning “You 🐝ing added to the list,” then I have 🐝n your comment and added it to my literal list, so yours will 🐝 made after each one 🐝fore is made.

This completes round fift🐝-five of 🐝me faces. Tune in (the Monday after) next Monday for the next Poptropican 🐝me Face Mondays!

What do you think about this 🐝k’s 🐝me faces? Comment 🐝low.

  • WHO: Everyone – you’ll get to chat with Poptropicans and even PHB staff!
  • WHAT: Multiverse parties and lively chat on the Poptropica Help Chat (aka the PHC: join in at discord.me/thePHC) – with a holiday twist. Bring your Santa hats, candy canes, and of course, your holiday cheer!
  • WHEN: December 23, 2016 (Friday) @ 6pm Eastern / 5pm Central / 4pm Mountain / 3pm Pacific (If you do not live in any of these time zones, use a time converter to find out what time it will be in your area! In some places, it may be Saturday morning.)

The chat will be moderated, so it’s a safe environment. Just be sure to follow the rules as outlined on the PHC’s #tutorial channel to avoid being kicked or banned from the chat.

Let us know in the comments if you have any questions! Hope to see you there!

15 Poptropica Characters That Truly POP!

(Hey Poptropicans! This is a guest post written by Teen Arachnid, in which he shares his favorite Poptropica characters. Note that this post is purely his opinion. With that said, enjoy! –🐠)

pop15-chars

Hey y’all! It’s Teen Arachnid, and I’m here to share my Top (or Pop) 15 favorite Poptropica characters! The list will include their names (of course), pictures, and what Islands they appear on. I’d like to thank the PHB’s Poptropica Wiki for most of my information and the pictures.

This will be a list that goes by in descending order, from 15 (favorite) to 1 (FAVORITE!) Players like you and me are not qualified for this list. Before I begin, here are some honorable mentions (HMs) that didn’t make it to my top fifteen

HM: Hestia (Mythology Island)

Since she is in statue form on Mythology Island, I had to put her in Honorable Mention. However, if she was in normal Poptropican form, she would’ve been in my Top 3. Why? Because Hestia is one of my favorite Greek gods, mainly because many people don’t know or like her, which makes me feel sympathetic. Plus, she is the Greek goddess of hearth, which means “floor of fireplace”, which means warmth during the cold times – isn’t that awesome?

hestia

HM: Tessa Turncoat (PoptropiCon, Episodes 1–3)

I used to be obsessed with this character, but not so much now. However, since I used to adore her, I had to give her a spot in Honorable Mention.

tessa-turncoat

HM: Bearded Townie (Cryptids Island)

Even though he is just a normal civilian, I just always loved seeing him on the Main Street of Cryptids Island. Plus, I love his simple but stylish design.

bearded-townieNow, onto the main part of the list
.

15: Flo (24 Carrot Island)

Flo, the waitress in the Carrot King Diner, is really cool. She reminds me of the classic sassy waitress in the old-timey diners. Also, she carries a pitcher of milk! I love milk!

flo

14: Queen of Arturus (Astro Knights Island)

The Queen of Arturus is kinda cool. I just adore her costume and design. Not to mention, she is royalty! Obey the queen! Hmmm
Hashtag moment! Comment down below #ObeyTheQueen if you think the Queen of Arturus is cool.

queen

13: Omegon (PoptropiCon Episodes 2-3 & Photo Booth)

Omegon is pretty cool. I love his overall design, and his role in PoptropiCon Island.

omegon

12: Donna Disco (Zomberry Island & Home Island Photo Booth)

Donna Disco is my favorite Zomberry! I love her dress and large hair. When I make a photo in the Photo Booth on Home Island, I like to include her.

disco

11: Red Baroness (Monkey Wrench Island)

I like the Red Baroness. She seems cool. I like her design, and I especially like the goggles piece around her neck. Wait, Poptropicans don’t have necks. Then how do they breathe? Uh
.

redbaroness

10: Sir Gawain (Astro-Knights Island)

Sir Gawain is my favorite knight out of the three knights from Astro-Knights Island. I love his ice-themed design.

sirg

9: Sally Score (Reality TV Island)

Sally Score is my favorite contestant on Reality TV Island. I love her jersey!

sallyscore

8: Scheherazade (in genie form) (Arabian Nights, Episode 3 & Photo Booth)

I love Scheherazade in her genie form! It looks AWESOME! That’s all I got to say about her.

scheherazade

7: Tunnel of Love Worker (Monster Carnival Island)

This is my favorite carnie from Monster Carnival. I love his hair and his cool costume. I even love how he turned into a puppet-like monster at nightfall.

tunnelofloveguy

6: Binary Bard (in Princess Elyana disguise) (Astro-Knights Island)

Binary Bard’s disguise as the princess is so awesome and hilarious at the same time! Plus, it has a purple and yellow color scheme. And you’ll know why I like those colors when you see my #1 favorite character.

bbprincess5: Aeolus (Mythology Island)

While Aeolus isn’t my favorite Greek Mythology character, I still love his design in Poptropican form! His hair looks cool, because it looks like it is being waived by the wind: fitting for a dude selling bags of wind.

aeolus

4: Bonsai Wu (Red Dragon Island & Photo Booth)

Bonsai Wu is awesome! I love her clothing, and her design is so cute! She is a cute little old lady! I love old people!

bonsai-wu

3: Winston (Survival Island, Episodes 4 & 5)

Though Winston the butler may be Myron Van Buren’s henchman and an evil dude, I still love him! For two reasons. First of all, I LOVE OLD PEOPLE! And second of all, I like how he shows that even the oldest, most “innocent” looking, cutest, loyal-acting person can turn out to be EVIL!

winston2: Mr. Silva (Shrink Ray Island)

Mr. Silva is awesome! I loved his role in Shrink Ray Island. I also love his overall design.

mr-silva

And finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. My favorite Poptropican is

SKYSCRAPER POLICEMAN!!! – SUPER POWER ISLAND

policeman

Just kidding. The winner, at least for me, is

1: Teen Arachnid (PoptropiCon, Episode 2-3)

Just to clarify, I’m talking about Teen Arachnid from PoptropiCon: Episode 2, not my Poptropican, which I named after him. I like Teen Arachnid’s color scheme, him being a parody of Spider-Man, and, well, uh
. I can’t think of anything else. But I love him!

teenarachnid

Also, I’d like to extend a congratulations to Perfect Sky and Happy Lobster for becoming PHB authors!

One more thing, I just wanted to say that I wrote this guest post a week after my grandfather and great uncle died, so this guest post is in remembrance of them.

That’s all for this post! Share in the comments who YOUR favorite Poptropica characters are!

–

Hope you enjoyed this guest post by Teen Arachnid!

The PHB welcomes guest posting from anyone in our community if you have something to share, whether it be sneak peeks, My Place in Poptropica stories, or any other ideas you might have. We also encourage sharing on our subreddit and the PHC.

If you have an idea for a guest post, send it in to staff@poptropicahelp.net!🙂
